It’s been a bumpy road but we’ll keep driving along

GeoBus has faced many obstacles as the 2022 school year began, but a few bumps on the road have not stopped us yet!

As the scheduling team sat down to begin planning out the semester’s event calendar we found ourselves in a bit of a pickle. We were so grateful to find out our marketing efforts had paid off and we had received requests from over 60 schools across the state who wanted GeoBus to visit their school! However, we were devastated when we started to realize we were not going to have enough driver hours to meet the demands of teacher requests.

In the face of defeat, our GeoBus team leaders did not take this bus driver shortage laying down. No. Instead, they have decided to take the wheel–so to speak–and begin the process of becoming licensed to drive the bus themselves!

Now that we were working on a solution for our bus driver shortage all was once again going well in the GeoBus world and scheduling plans were once again on the horizon. In addition, the team has been working to create self-paced lesson plans using NearPod technology for our activity stations on the GeoBus and making great progress.

When Hurricane Ian decides to pay a visit.

Ian left several Central Florida areas devastated by the massive amounts of rain leading to flooding and forcing many to evacuate their homes. Strong winds caused power outages across many neighborhoods in Central Florida including our own team members.

As an effort to help support those still working to regain normalcy after this natural disaster, GeoBus will be prioritizing scheduling with schools within Orlando City for the month of November for those teachers and students affected by Hurricane Ian.
