Geo Explorer Auburn is Science on Wheels!

on the road in Alabama in Early 2025

What is Geo Explorer Auburn?

  • We are a 35-foot mobile science Lab powered by solar energy that visits K-12 schools across Alabama and beyond. We help students use scientific thinking and technologies to understand the grand challenges of Earth, Environment, and Society. We are a partnership between Auburn University Department of Geosciences, Auburn University College of Sciences and Mathematics, and 15lightyears.

Why Geo Explorer Auburn Matters.

  • The Power of Being 1st. Auburn hosts the first of its kind mobile geoscience experience in the United States on a 35-foot RV!

  • We Bring the World to Science’s Next Generation: Most K-12 schools do not offer geoscience, geospatial technology, geography, or geology experiences to students. We fill the gap through mobile education!

  • We Support In-Demand Careers: Geoscience careers are booming and offer lucrative salaries. There is an annual growth rate of 35% in geospatial technology careers. Yet, K-12 students are often unaware of these careers. We stimulate interest in these fields!

  • We Provide Access to All: Geo Explorer Auburn supports the land-grant mission of Auburn University. Scheduling priority is given to Title 1 schools and schools lacking sufficient support for science and technology experiences. We believe science and technology should be shared with all in society!

We Stop for Science.

  • We Offer Fun, Hands-On Science and Technology Learning. We use augmented and virtual reality technologies, engage in real-world scientific problem solving, code and fly mini drones, and more.

  • We Connect Alabama Youth, Auburn Students, and Industry Professionals. We engage and inspire youth to believe in their talents and to believe in Auburn as their destination of choice.

  • We Park at Your School. Auburn students, faculty, and staff engage your students in an immersive, hands-on learning environment to complement the school day, and we never leave your parking lot.
