Lauren Aitken is a second-year master’s student of Applied Sociology at the University of Central Florida. She earned her bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Political Science, specializing in American Politics and Policy, from UCF in 2021. Her undergraduate research project questioned whether socioeconomic status affects individual attitudes about the United States federal government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her current research interests include LGBTQ identity and inequality, mental illness in women, and popular culture content analysis.
Lauren is skilled in research design and data analysis. She is passionate about K-12 education and has worked in Orange County Public Schools through her service as an AmeriCorps member. Outside of the classroom and the lab, Lauren enjoys painting, baking, and sitcom television.
