Dr. Bo Yang
Postdoctoral Associate | NSF Eelgrass Lead
Dr. Bo Yang is a postdoctoral research scholar at University of Central Florida (UCF). Yang’s research interests include Geographical Information Science (GIS), UAV & Drone remote sensing, machine learning algorithms, and spatio-temporal geo-statistics. He has multiple education backgrounds with a B. S. degree in applied mathematics, a M.S. in computer science, and a M.A. in GIS. He received Ph.D. in Geography at the University of Cincinnati (UC) in 2018.
He joined UCF with Citizen Science GIS group serving as lead postdoc for the NSF & Smithsonian eelgrass drone mapping project. His responsibilities include co-mentoring undergraduate students; engaging in intensive fieldwork and community building throughout MarineGeo sites along the west coast of North America; analyzing quantitative and qualitative datasets.
