Where in the world?

For our Maps, Apps, and Drones Tour activity this week we will be going on a virtual scavenger hunt! The power of Geographic Information Systems is in YOUR hands! Follow the guidelines below to complete your scavenger hunt. This activity should take roughly 30-45 minutes and can be completed from your computer or tablet.

For today's activity, you will be following the clickable links on the worksheet.

You will first be led to National Geographic's Education page where you will learn more about geography.

Next, you will learn to use National Geographic's Mapmaker Interactive page to find your hometown!

  • Printer

  • Microsoft Paint

  • Where in the World Worksheet

  • Hometown Map page

1. Download your Where in the World worksheet below:

2. Follow the first link to National Geographic's "What is Geography?" page to answer the first three questions on the worksheet.

3. Follow the next link to National Geographic's "Mapmaker Interactive" where you will use the feature on the page to add your line, polygon, and point to your hometown map. Use this to answer Part 2 of the worksheet.

4. Download your Hometown Map page below:

5. Open the Hometown Map page using Microsoft Paint or Microsoft Word.

6. Follow the steps to place your hometown map, including your polygon, line, and point onto the space provided.
