Maps, Apps, and Drones Tour at Indian Trails Middle School

INDIAN TRAIL MIDDLE SCHOOL GUEST STEM PRESENTATIONS(SANFORD, FL) – Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) is excited to host a STEM Presentation provided by Sara McNulty, the public affairs officer at NASA, and Mike Welch, NASA Engineer on original Apollo along with Citizen Science GIS and GeoBus from the University of Central Florida (UCF) on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 9:20 am. The presentations will take place at Indian Trail Middle School for 6th, 7th and 8th grade classes.SCPS prides itself in providing students across the district a STEM based curriculum and opportunities to discover new areas of study. Indian Trails Middle School has partnered with Sara McNulty to speak to the 8th grade students about different STEM related career paths that the Kennedy Space Center provides for students to pursue.  Mike Welch, who was an engineer on the original Apollo will also speak to the 8th grade students.In addition, the Citizen Science GIS, powered by UCF, will bring the contents of it’s GeoBus which is still under construction to host interactive stations for select 7th grade classes. The GeoBus is a mobile STEM laboratory bringing maps, app, and drones to visit K-12 schools in Central Florida.  The Lake Monroe Amateur Radio Society will also present to select 6th grade classes while Siemens will be presenting to the school’s Renewable Energy class about careers in that field.  SCPS hopes this presentation will further their student’s interest in STEM programs and contribute to the educational opportunities provided by the district.WHAT:          STEM Presentation to explore space provided by NASA & UCF.WHEN:          Tuesday, September 25, 20189:20 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.  – Media Center – UCF GeoBus9:20 a.m. – 11:46 a.m. – Lake Monroe Amateur Radio Society10:20 a.m. – Cafeteria – Sara McNulty from Kennedy Space Center & Mike Welch, Engineer on original ApolloWHERE:       Indian Trails Middle School415 Tuskawilla RdWinter Springs, Florida 32708*Media, please report to the school’s Front Office upon arrival.-SCPS-
