Christine Munisteri and Nick Altizer Join Our REU Team as Program Assistant Coordinators!
The excitement continues to build! Our team continues to grow in anticipation of an awesome summer of Community GIS and Citizen Science in Orlando and Belize. We are pleased to announced Christine Munisteri and Nick Altizer have agreed to join our team this summer as REU Program Assistant Coordinators!Christine Munisteri, REU Program Assistant Coordinator. Christine is a current senior (graduating in May 2016) majoring in Environmental Studies at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. In the summer of 2014 she was a member of the Community, Soil, Air, and Water Research Experience for Undergraduates at Georgia State University. Throughout the program, Christine and the other researchers worked with the West Atlanta Watershed Alliance and employed community geography and GIS to better understand barriers between community members and urban greenspaces. Christine spent the fall of her junior year studying Tropical Island Biodiversity and Conservation in Bocas del Toro, Panama with the School for Field Studies. In the summer of 2015, Christine was an Education Assistant for Dr. Hawthorne’s Urban Atlanta Geospatial STEM Academy. During the program she guided youth scholars through introductory GIS skills, field work, and data analysis. She currently works as a GIS lab assistant at Skidmore and plays on the college’s softball team. She is a former member of the Skidmore Orchestra.
Nicholas Altizer, REU Program Assistant Coordinator. Nick is a recent graduate from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology.
